Thanksgiving Weekend

Carson and I were lucky enough to get invited up to Grandma and Emily's for Thanksgiving, so of course we went, mouths a-waterin'. We took the night hound Friday as is the custom and arrived a few minutes after 6am, to be picked up by G and taken home to bed for another few hours. Isley can never wait to wake up the late sleepers of the family and I was woken by the sound of her asking Grandma for the 87th time if she could come and wake us up (I mean, really only Carson, she doesn't give two hoots about me!). Apparently she'd emptied one of the board games and brought the spoils down as a bribe for Grandma. She promised G 100$ of yellow play money if G would let her wake us up! She is very much her mother's daughter, that Isley! Cunning as the day is long. After being fed a tasty lunch, errr, breakfast (it goes without saying all meals were tasty), and went to see about some gardening work (to pay for the turkey and beer we were about to ransack, don't you know) for Grandma. Em was home and distracted us from gardening by pre-emptively telling us the beers were in the downstairs fridge, but Grandma had us back on track without too much flogging. Isley came out and helped move some cuttings from one pile to another pile . . . or rather from the pile to everywhere! She only ever helped for about 4 minutes and then wandered away! It was pretty funny!
We went down to the Village Saturday afternoon and had a nice long visit with the Old Man hisself, who was doing awesome and mouthed several to five bad words at me from behind his hand as is his habit.
Sunday, Grandma and Emily put together a truly delicious and fulfilling meal. I ate three mountainous helpings and then pie, and then we all sat at the table not moving for about 37 minutes. We ate the meal in such a short time, it seems backwards that it took so long to prepare! Emily did a great job; her dressing was phenomenal, just a hint of rosemary but so flavorful!
We played cards (everyone de-pantsed by Grandma), watched a couple of movies (and the Food Network - I love it so much, more than most people, and I do mean that I like the Food Network more than I like most people), busted our guts laughing and fell asleep in front of the tv.
Unfortunately, overnight on Saturday Gramps got sick with a cold and was put in isolation and only Grandma was allowed to go down and visit him while the rest stayed at home disappointed. It also meant that we couldn't bring him up to the house in the wheelchair taxi like Grandma had planned, so he could enjoy the turkey dinner with us on Sunday. Poor bugger had to stay in. Luckily, Grandma went in early on Monday morning to explain that her "grandchildren" were grown, and after that was cleared up we were allowed to visit, but of course we had to gown up as you can see from the top picture. The gowns and masks were very creepy looking (I mean - Carson's was but maybe he just looks creepy anyways) but we had a nice visit regardless, and we could say goodbye and bon voyage (or kiss mine up yours as some family historians might say) to Gramps. We came home with more luggage than we left with, turkey sandwiches to go, and foolproof plan to win at cards next time.
Thanks for sending the pictures, Grandma, and thanks for the fantastic lovely weekend!
