Today Kimber left for work early. Joe didn't have to work today so he took me touristing about. We rode the city bus into Dublin and walked around. He showed me the lay of the land and got me a map at the information centre (which we were directed to by a friendly guy - once he said the name of the pub it was next to Joe knew right where it was) and as we walked he pointed out the sights. We absolutely had to stop when I saw the sign outside a little store that they had TIM HORTONS DONUTS.

(space to allow you to come to terms with the awesomeness of this)

We got a hot choco and a donut each and sat in the window seats watching the people go by. A couple friends of Joe and Kimberlee's walked by and stopped to chat.
After that we walked over to where Kimber works and visited her for a few minutes. She works in a clothing store in a very slow mall so she has some free time during work luckily but it's a bit boring she says, she reads a book most days.
Then Joe and I left her to her work and walked back over to Trinity College (the famousest university in Ireland) to see the Book of Kells, a really old illuminated manuscript of the new testament. One room is like a museum of the book, explaining the history of it and how the books were made (my favourite part was the "chronology of the Book" that described the history of the monastery and how many times - a lot - it was raided, burned, pillaged or destroyed by the Vikings, ha ha! reminiscent of how many times Korean treasures were sacked by the Japanese or how Chinese ones were razed by the "Anglo-French Alliance"). The Book itself lays open in a cabinet, they turn the page so each day visitors see a different one.
Above that is the Long Room, a library for old old (old, old) books which impressed us both mightily.
We had a cuppa, walked around some more and caught the number 16 bus back to Terenure. Now Joe's taking care of some work, I'm blogging, Sabre the husky is snuffling around, and Kimber is coming home from work early to cook us all some dinner.
